The Office of National Intelligence provides competitive remuneration and conditions for employees at all levels. We provide a meaningful degree of flexibility in roles.
Competitive conditions
We provide annual salary increases and advancement through pay points at each classification for eligible staff, as well a generous 15.4% employer superannuation contribution.
We know that gaining and maintaining a security clearance can be onerous and imposes ongoing obligations on our staff. In recognition of this, we pay our staff a Community Allowance to acknowledge the special requirements placed on members of the National Intelligence Community.
Employees are credited with 18 days of personal or carer’s leave in advance each year and 20 days of annual leave (pro rata for part time). A range of other generous leave provisions apply, such as long service, parental leave, leave at half-pay, leave for employees affected by family, domestic, and/or intimate partner violence, compassionate leave, community service leave, and defence reserve leave.
Work-life balance and flexibility
We understand that whatever role you perform here, you need to enjoy a good work-life balance. Although the nature of intelligence work means that, on occasion, you may need to work outside usual business hours, this is not normally the case. Where additional hours are required, we have various arrangements for staff to access leave, flex time or overtime. Our staff are also not normally required to work over the Christmas closedown period or on public holidays.

Conditions of employment
Our key conditions of employments are set out in our 2016-19 Enterprise Agreement, which was has been subsequently extended by our 2022-24 Determination. Our current rates of pay are set out below within the Determination and, for ease of reference, in a separate document.
